April Fool’s Day
April 1, in many Western countries traditionally an occasion for playing tricks. This custom has been observed for hundreds of years. The purpose of April Fool’s day is when people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other. The jokes and their victims are known as “April fools”. The earliest known historical reference to April Fool’s day occurs in Dutch poem published in 1561, which predates the adoption of the Gregorian calendar by some 21 years. Pros: You get to prank people. Cons: If you prank people, you get prank back.

Choreographer  

Duties and Responsibilities: Choreographers create routines for individual performers, competitions, musical performances, marching bands, ballets and other spectacles. They create dance and movement routines. Former dancers sometimes transition into choreography careers after their bodies have enough of the physical demands involved in dancing.

St. Patrick’s Day

·    For Catholics, Episcopalians and some Lutherans, March 17 is the Feast Day of St. Patrick. For the rest of us, it’s St. Patrick’s Day a midweek excuse to party until we’re green in the face.

·    St. Patrick’s Day celebrates the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland.  St. Patrick died on March 17, 461

·     Designate a sober diver or have an alternate transportation plan before the party begins.

·     The color green is closely associated with Ireland, the Irish, and St. Patrick’s Day no matter where it is celebrated.

Volunteer Opportunities

Children’s Hospital

All volunteers must begin their service with us by completing "At Your Service" training, a 60-day program. Once you have completed At Your Service training, you will be eligible to transition into a position based on your qualifications and time availability.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m.—5 p.m.

Description

·         Serve as a patient and family escort.

·         Interact with children and families while you walk with them to their appointments. This is a great opportunity to learn about what makes our hospital and staff so special, and explore other areas of interest for future volunteering.

Qualifications: You must be a friendly and energetic people person and be able to stand for long periods of time. Fluency in a secondary language is not mandatory but is a definite plus.
