Detectives
Duties
and Responsibilities: Police detectives, unlike police officers, don't wear a uniform, drive
patrol cars, or patrol; instead, they spend much of their time compiling
information and evidence for the cases they are assigned. They wear plain
clothes, usually a suit and tie, and drive unmarked cars. Because police
detective is a higher ranking and higher paid position than police officer, it
requires more experience and knowledge.
Salary: $51,731 per year
Education: Education
requirements range from a high school diploma to a college, or higher, degree.
Most police and detectives must graduate from their agency's training academy
before completing a period of on-the-job training. Candidates must be U.S.
citizens, usually at least 21 years old, and meet rigorous physical and
personal qualifications.
Reflection: Yes I would
like to become a detective because I would like to find who did the crimes.
